Nirva, Leona (1910 - 1991)
Leona (Lindner) Nirva, 81, Withee, died June
20, 1991, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Memorial services
are tentatively scheduled for June 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel
United Church of Christ, Greenwood.
She was born Feb. 2, 1910, to Charles and Theresa (Pletske) Lindner
in Colby. At age seven, she moved with her parents to a farm west
of Colby and attended Colby Schools. She married William Nirva on
May 7, 1927, at Waukegan, Ill. They farmed south of Owen until
1946, when they moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked at a
distributor, then at the ModernCraft Laundry. In the fall of 1947,
they moved back to Wisconsin and bought a farm south of Withee.
In 1969, they retired in Withee and spent part of the first two
winters in Ariz., then 12 winters in the Rio Grande Valley in
Texas.
She was an active member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ of
Greenwood. Her Husband preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1983.
Mrs. Nirva is survived by one son, Chester of Withee three
grandchildren three great-grandchildren and one sister, Rose
Kamenich of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her husband,
parents, five brothers and three sisters.
