Cherney, Arlene (1935 - 2001)


Arlene Amy Cherney, 65, Neillsville, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the Memorial Home-Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Community Funeral Home, Spencer. Sister Fran Trochta officiated.


Arlene Cherney was born on Sept. 24, 1935, in the Town of Spencer, Marathon County, to Frank Cherney and Olga Gross. She received her early education at the Cameron School. She graduated from Spencer High School and attended two years at the Stevens Point State College. She worked in the Boston Store in Milwaukee and then for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. until 1984, when she retired due to a disability. From Sept. 1986, she had resided at the Memorial Home, Neillsville.


Survivors include one sister, Lucille Lucy Christensen, Marshfield; one nephew, Alex Christensen, Madison; and one niece, Inga Johnson, Manitowoc.


She was preceded in death by her parents one brother, Bill Cherney and two sister, Rosalie Cherney and Elaine Jaschob.


Community funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
