Elpert, Carmen Marie (1928 - 2001)
Carmen Marie Elpert, 72, Unity, died at her
home under the care of Ministry Home Health. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Unity. Rev. John Clasen officiated. Burial was in the Colby
Memorial cemetery, town of Colby. Pallbearers were Gary Oestreich,
Rob Wilbur, Randy Brost, Ronald Brost, Kevin Gotter, and Gene
Gotter.
Carmen Marie Schmidtke was born on Sept. 17, 1928, to Paul and Anna
(nee Krieger) Schmidtke. She attended Neillsville schools. She
married Ewald Ozzie Elpert on July 25, 1947, in Neillsville. He
died on Sept. 27, 1976. Prior to his death, they had farmed and she
was a caretaker for the Vernon Brost family for many years. She
retired in 1984 from Medo-Farms Restaurant, Abbotsford, where she
worked as a baker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 7 sons, Dennis (Sally) Elpert, Unity Darrel
(Barb) Elpert, Unity Kenny (Linda) Elpert, Unity Dick Elpert, Unity
Thomas (Sandra) Elpert, Spencer James (Renee) Elpert, Unity and
Robert (Debra) Elpert, Unity two daughters, Sue (Jerry) Haufe,
Colby, and Sandy (Lorin) Cliver, Unity 11 grandchildren six
step-grandchildren eight great-grandchildren and three brothers,
Elton (Julia) Schmidtke, Greenwood Donald (Doreen) Schmidtke,
Odebolt, Iowa, and Larry (Karen) Schmidtke, Friendship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ozzie three children,
James Alan Elpert, Ann Marie Elpert, and William Lee Elpert and one
sister, Alice Wehe.
Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with
arrangements.
