Harrington, Lucy B. (1910 - 2001)


Lucy B. Harrington, 91, Neillsville, died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at the United Church of Christ, Neillsville. The Rev. James Mohr officiated. Music was provided by organist Karen Mohr and soloist Ertz Steiger. Interment was in the Butlerville Cemetery near Thorp. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Tod Johnson, Tim Johnson, Mark Harrington, Steve Harrington, Lory Sullivan and Brian Seelow.


Lucy Bell Butler was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Butlerville, to George M. and Annie (nee Bloomquist) Butler. She attended the Butlerville School and worked as a chambermaid at the Tioga Hotel. She married Ellsworth A. Harrington on Nov. 9, 1932, in Eau Claire. After their marriage they moved to Augusta, where she worked at the Augusta Canning factory. In 1945, they moved to Neillsville, where she worked as a waitress at Jenni's Restaurant, All Aboard Restaurant, and Horsewill's Cafe . They moved to Milwaukee in 1957. She worked cleaning a bowling alley, a dentist's office and private homes. Her husband died in 1963, and she stayed in Milwaukee until 1995, when she moved to Wis. Rapids. She then moved to the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville. She was a past member of the United Church of Christ, South Milwaukee, and was a current member of the United Church of Christ, Neillsville. She belonged to the Women of the Moose Club in Neillsville and Milwaukee. She bowled for many years in women s bowling leagues in Neillsville and Milwaukee. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, embroidering and gardening.

 

 


Survivors include three children, Richard (Janet) Harrington, Neillsville Jean (Morris) Johnson, Wis. Rapids and Karen (Bill) Seelow, Tucson, Ariz. six grandchildren, Tod (Julie) Johnson, Wis. Rapids Tim (Teri) Johnson, Wis. Rapids Mark (Kathy) Harrington, Cudahy Steve (Mary) Harrington, Franklin, Lory (Russell) Sullivan, Tucson, Ariz. and Brian Seelow, Tucson, Aris. 13 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.


Preceding her in death were her husband, Ellsworth one brother, Clarence Butler three sisters, Evelyn Markee, Laura E. Mayenschein and Edith Hall and her parents.


The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
