West, Irma Margarite (1909 - 2001)
Irma Margarite West, 91, Neillsville, died on
Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at the Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville. A
memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the
Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. James Gordon
officiated. A private family interment was held before the service
in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alan Mack, Tom
Mack, Kenneth Mosen, Tim Voigt, Daniel Wallner, and Dick
Wallner.
Irma Margarite Bartz was born on Sept. 23, 1909, in Granton, to
Alfred and Bertha (nee Albrecht) Bartz. She received her education
at Granton Public School and attended the University of Wisconsin
Stevens Point, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in education.
She then taught for 12 years in various Clark County schools and 15
years in the Neillsville Public Schools, retiring in 1973. She
married James A. West on June 7, 1933. They live din the
Neillsville and Granton area. After retirement, they enjoyed
wintering in Arizona and Florida. She was actively involved in the
Clark County 4-H Program and was a member of the first 4-H club in
the county. She was also a member of the Shortville Homemakers, the
Calvary Lutheran Church, and the Calvary Lutheran Church Women.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Alan) Voigt, Neillsville,
Sylvia (Lester) Goke, Platteville, Carol (Richard) Wallner,
Longwood, Fla., and Bridget (Thomas) Mack, New Berlin 13
grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren one sister, Kathryn (James)
Voigt, Marshfield one brother, Laurence (Irene) Bartz,
Neillsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James West and four
sisters, Gertrude Hughes, Lenore Klix, Mildred Fox, and Evelyn
Haase.
Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with
arrangements.
