Smrecek, Patricia Ann (1939 - 2001)
Patricia Ann Smrecek, 61, Greenwood, town of
Warner, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her home. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 21, at St.
Mary's Catholic Church Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar and Rev.
Michel Mertens officiated. Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery,
Willard.
Patricia Ann Steponik was born on June 9, 1939, in Wood County, to
John and Christine (nee Reshel) Steponik. She received her
elementary education in the City Point and Pittsville schools and
graduated from Pittsville High School. She attended teaching
college in Wis. Rapids and Whitewater. She taught for Waterloo,
Neillsville (Mound School) and Greenwood school districts. She
married Ralph Smrecek on Aug. 10, 1962, at Holy Family Catholic
Church, Willard. They lived in Willard and then moved to Greenwood
in 1978. They raised four sons and farmed in the town of Warner.
She enjoyed collecting bears and butterflies, gardening, flowers,
walks along the river, and spending time with her family. She was a
member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Society.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Smrecek, Greenwood her mother,
Christine Steponik, Wausau four sons, Ralph (Vicki) Smrecek Fr.,
Greenwood, Jeff (Michele) Smrecek, Edgerton, Tim (Amy) Smrecek, Eau
Claire, and John Smrecek, Marshfield four grandchildren, Katelyn,
Ashley, Kade and Kellie Smrecek two sisters, Betty (Al) Richter,
Hancock, and Joyce (Larry) Zschernitz, Schofield and one brother,
Jim (Barb) Steponik, Merrill.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Steponik Jr. and her
father, John Steponik, in March 1999.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with
arrangements.
