Duell, Doris M. (1931 - 2001)
Doris M. Duell, 69, Loyal, died on Saturday,
May 26, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Room, Marshfield.
Graveside inurnment will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 2,
at the Loyal City Cemetery.
Doris Mae Hills was born on June 20, 1931, in Ladysmith, to Alfred
Sr. and Ina (nee Parker ) Hills. At a young age, she and her family
moved to Loyal, where she was raised and received her education.
She worked at the Loyal Cannery after her schooling, and in 1949,
she married Duane Vollrath. The later divorced. She married Merlin
Duell on Oct. 1, 1952, at the Loyal Methodist Church. They later
divorced. She raised four sons and worked for several area
businesses, including Weyerhaeuser, Roundy's in Loyal, the Loyal
Library, and at Fleischman's Bakery until its closing. She resided
in Loyal until the time of her death. She enjoyed casino gambling,
watching birds, and spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Steve Vollrath, Clintonville, Patrick
(Marlene) Duell, Loyal, Kevin (Marcia) Duell, Loyal, and Thomas
(Loni) Duell, Loyal eight grandchildren six great-grandchildren two
sisters, Doreen Sinclair, Loyal, and Susan (John) Aiken, La Crosse
five brothers, Donald (Janet) Hills, Loyal, John (Merry) Hills,
Mauston, Charles (Marge) Hills, Wausau, David (Jan) Hills, Sussex,
and Michael (Laurie) Hills, Hustisford and one sister-in-law, Betty
Hills, Loyal.
She was preceded in death by her parents one brother, Alfred Hills,
Jr., and one sister, Sandy Hills.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal is assisting the family with
arrangements.
