Hanson, Roy T. (1901 - 2001)

Roy T. Hanson, 100, Colby, died on Friday, May 4, 2001, at Colonial Center, Colby. Private Family services were held on Saturday, May 5. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Roy T. Hanson was born on Jan. 28, 1901, in Bear Creek, to Peter and Emily Mogensen. He attended school in Bear Creek. He went to Milwaukee to learn the sheet metal trade and was sent to Florida to repair cars. When the Depression came, he moved to Unity, where he had purchased land earlier and began building his farm. He married Christine Rankel on Jan. 28, 1935, and they farmed together until they retired.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Christine Hanson, Colby four daughters, Rochelle (Edward) Fricke, Colby, Gloria (Bernard) Klabunde, Dorchester, Elaine (Robert) Ruprich, Dorchester, and Emily (Jim) Bellendorf, Medford 12 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers and three sisters.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
