Holmes, Harold J. (1903 - 2001)


Harold J. Holmes, 97, Neillsville, died on Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. A private graveside service was held on Monday, May 7, at West Spencer Cemetery, Spencer.


Harold J. Holmes was born on Sept. 27, 1903, in Spencer, to Earl and Lena (nee Griffin) Holmes. He attended Spencer schools and Carrol College, Stevens Point. He married Elaine (nee Brecker) Alexander on Aug. 24, 1974, in Unity. He was a plumber and cheesemaker, retiring in 1978, in Unity.


Survivors include his wife, Elaine two step-daughters, Marie (Sheldon) Heck, Greenwood, and Marlene (Patrick) Duell, Loyal two step-sons, Dale Alexander, Stratford, and David (Cheryl) Alexander, Marshfield nine step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Lyle and one sister, Bernice Raabe.


The Cremation Society of Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.
