Worden, Vera M. (1910 - 2001)


Vera M. Worden, 91, Dodgeville, formerly of Greenwood, Owen-Withee, Clark County, area, died on Sunday, April 29, 2001, at the Iowa County Memorial Hospital, Dodgeville. She had resided at the Bloomfield Manor Nursing Home, Dodgeville, before entering the hospital. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 2, at the Riverside Cemetery, Withee. The Rev. Tom Gonzalez, Community Alliance Church, Withee, officiated. Grandsons served as pallbearers.


Vera M. Hunerjager was born on April 24, 1910, in Withee, to Edward and Grace (nee Youmans) Hunerjager. She received her early education in Owen and was a graduate of the Winona State Teachers College. She owned and operated the Owen Greenhouse and later worked in health care at Oakwood Lutheran Home, Madison, and Pine Lawn Home, Highland. She was a member of the Community Alliance Church.


Survivors include one daughter, Arlene (Jim) Jacobson, Highland one son-in-law, Larry Dunn, St. Paul, Minn. two sisters, Ione (Julian) Andersen, Elizabethon, Tenn., and Eva (Ed) Sharpee, Tucson, Ariz. two sisters-in-law, Leora Dyre, Greenwood, and Ethel Termeer, Sacramento, Calif. 19 grandchildren one great-grandchild and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and daughter, Ruth Dunn and three husbands, Leo Arp, Harry Craig, and Wesley Worden.


Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, assisted the family with arrangements.
