Freund, Edwin J. (1914 - 2001)

Edwin J. Freund, 86, Neillsville, died on Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Woodrow Pace officiated. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Burr, Jerry Freund, Merlyn Freund, Norman Freund, Walter Freund and Wayne Kronberger.

Edwin John Freund was born on June 5, 1914, in McIntire, Iowa, to Nicholas and Katherine (nee Gerhartz) Freund. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Bakerville, where he attended the Ebbe and St. Mary's
grade schools. After his schooling, he worked as a carpenter for Joe Wiegel and later worked for many years for Gaier Construction doing cement work. He retired on June 1, 1979, and continued to live in Neillsville.

Survivors include two sisters, Susan (Martin) Feuerstein and Tillie Burr, both of Neillsville his companion of many years, Florentine Nosbisch, Neillsville and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Walter.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
