Manninen, Bertha (1909 - 2001)
Bertha Manninen, 92, town of Longwood, rural
Greenwood, Clark County, died on Tuesday Feb. 27, 2001, at the
Victory Medical Center, Stanley. There were no funeral services at
the family's request.
Berth Olson was born on Feb. 24, 1909, in Finland, to Charles and
Serijia Olson. As an infant, she and her family immigrated to
America and resided in Ironwood, Mich., where her father worked in
the mines. They later relocated to homestead in the town of
Longwood. She lived on the dairy farm the rest of her life. She
married Toivo Manninen on Oct. 20, 1930. They operated the family
farm. He died on Aug. 6, 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Emory (Irene) Manninen, Withee, and
Carl Manninen, Greenwood two granddaughters, Sandra (Greg) Sebold,
Dorchester, and Annette (Randy) Brossow, Medford five
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Toivo, two
sisters and one brother.
Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, assisted the family with
arrangements.
