Dux, Louis Herman Walter (1925 - 2001)


Louis Herman Walter Dux, 76, Globe, Clark County, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, from cancer.


Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m., at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, globe. The Rev. Kevin Hanke will officiate. Karen Hoppe will be the organist, Dawn Thoma and Walter Schoenherr will be the soloists. Burial will be at the Globe Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg and Gary Thoma, Paul and Richard Schoenherr, Melvin Dux, Daniel McDonough, Roger Northrup and Ervin Kroll.


Louis Herman Walter Dux was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in the town of Pine Valley, to Herman and Elfrieda (nee Schoenherr) Dux. He married Jennie Thoma Oct. 2, 1948. In 1927, his parents moved to the farm in the town of Weston where he established a purebred registered Holstein herd. He attended Neillsville High School and graduated in 1943. He was a 4-H member of 12 years and a member of FFA for four years, where he held offices of vice president and treasurer. He served on the Board of Directors for Tri-State Breeder Cooperative for nine years and served as a director of the Clark County Holstein Breeders Association. From 1973-74 he served as a member of the advisory council of the Department of Vocational Agriculture at Neillsville High School. He was on the Board of Directors of Clark Electric for 19 years, and served as chairman for six years. He was chairman of WECA for two years. He was director and insurance rep for Lynn Insurance Agency. His interest and establishment of registered cattle, began through The FFA Registered Bull Program. He was church president, treasurer, and on the school Board for Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his friends, hunting, fishing, singing in the church choir, farming, making maple syrup, cutting wood and tinkering with old engines.


Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jennie Dux, Globe three children, Debra (Bill) Grap, Milwaukee, Daniel (Bunny) Dux, Neillsville, and David (Christine) Dux, Winona, Minn. five grandchildren, Aimee and Kimmie Grap, Milwaukee, Josh and Elisabeth Dux, Neillsville and Destiny Dux, Winona, Minn. and one sister, Gladys (Gordon) Thoma, Loyal.


Preceding his in death were his parents and brother-in-law, Henry Thoma.
