Peterson, Betty Esselman (1937 - 2001)
Betty Marie Esselman Peterson, 64,
Abbotsford, Clark County, died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Saint
Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30
a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church,
Abbotsford. The Rev. Al Jakobowski officiated. Burial was in the
Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews served as
pallbearers.
Betty Marie Smazal was born on July 30, 1937, in Fenwood, Marathon
County, to Charles and Clara (nee Ress) Smazal. She received her
early education in the Fenwood Schools. She married Robert Esselman
on Nov. 22, 1958, in Marshfield. The reside in rural Abbotsford and
moved to Abbotsford in 1987, when she had resided since. He died on
Jan. 1, 1985. She married Wayne Peterson in 1999, in Carson City,
Nev. She was a homemaker and was also employed with Marshfield
Canning Company and Abbyland Foods, Abbotsford. She was a member of
St. Bernard's Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic
Women.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Peterson, Abbotsford, her
children, Patricia Esselman, Wausau, Susan Esselman, Abbotsford,
Michael (Barbara) Esselman, Tomahawk, Ray (Diane) Esselman,
Abbotsford, and Alan Esselman, Abbotsford four grandchildren two
great-grandchildren four brothers, Eugene (Irene) Smazal, Colby,
Victor (Caroline) Smazal, Colby, Ken (Judy) Smazal, Abbotsford, and
Don (Shirley) Smazal, Colby seven sisters, Delores (Clarence)
Petri, Auburndale, Jeanette (John) Seehafer, Wausau, Carol (Ronald
Krueger, Abbotsford, Beverly Galowski, Medford, Clara Schwants,
Wausau, Marcella Smazal, Colby, and Marlene Galowski, Omro.
Preceding her in death were her parents her first husband, Robert
Esselman two sister, Bernice and Diane and two brothers, Chuck and
Eddie.
Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, assisted the family with
arrangements.
