Hibbard, Anita M. (1909 - 2001)
Anita M. Hibbard, 92, Colby, died on Sunday,
Sept. 30, 2001, at House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at First
United Church of Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiated.
Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery, town of Colby, Clark County.
Don Schulz, Gary Schulz, Randy Schulz, Damon Hibbard, Lee Monroe,
and Kevin Erickson served as pallbearers.
Anita M. Meyer was born on Aug. 7, 1909, in the town of Brighton,
Marathon County, to Frank and Edna (nee Stecker) Meyer. She was a
graduate of Unity High School, Marathon County Normal School,
Wausau, and received her bachelor of education degree from
UW-Stevens Point, and her master's degree from UW-Superior. She
married Harlowe Hibbard on June 7, 1933. He died on Jan. 12, 1989.
She lived in the Unity and Colby area all her life, where she
taught school for 40 years as an elementary teacher and supervisor
for the Colby School District. She retired from the teaching
profession in 1973. She was a member of First United Church of
Christ and the Women's Guild, Royal Neighbors of America, Colby
Senior Citizens, Colby VFW Auxiliary, Colby Homemakers, Retired
Teachers, and Clark County Historical Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Marlene (Ken) Schulz, Madison one
son, Wayne Hibbard, Willard two sisters, Ivey Sorenson, Marshfield,
and Pearl (Jim) Beals, Bonita Springs, Fla. a sister-in-law,
Bernice Meyer, Colby seven grandchildren, Don (Alice) Schulz,
Kaukauna, Gary (Kim ) Schulz, Madison, Julianne (Lee) Monroe,
Dayton, Ohio, Randy (Karen) Schulz, Mt. Horeb, Heidi (Eric)
Yankovich, Cape Coral, Fla., Shane (Sandy) Hibbard, Baltimore, Md.,
and Damon Hibbard, Phoenix, Ariz. and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harlowe her parents, Edna
and Frank Meyer a brother, Russell Meyer and a brother-in-law,
Arthur Sorenson.
Memorials may be given to House of the Dove.
Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with
arrangements.
