Tuttle, Mary Mathilda (1869 - 1926)
Mrs. W. S. Tuttle, who for the past several
months has been ailing in health, passed away from this life,
Saturday at 4:30 o'clock. The remains were taken to Emerald where
the funeral services were held Tuesday, the Rev. Chatersan of
Glenwood City officiating, with interment at the Glenwood City
Cemetery.
Mary Mathilda Lucier was born March 26, 1869 at Lincoln, Wis.,
where she waxed into womanhood and married William S. Tuttle, on
Oct. 27, 1886. They lived at Dorchester for a number of years,
moving from there to Glenwood City, where they resided until 1920,
at which time they moved to Owen, Clark County, where they
purchased the Fremont Hotel. This hostelry they successfully
operated until the failing of health forced retirement.
The deceased leaves besides the widower, three sisters, Mrs. Frank
Hurley, Miss Sarah Lucier of Emerald, Mrs. Robert Gerdwood of
British Columbia, one brother, Chas. Lucier of Emerald, and three
nieces who she reared and educated, Mrs. Clifford Elliott of
Stanley, Mrs. Roy Anderson of Owen and Mrs. Dean Mitchell of
Bemidji, Minn.
