Stow, Lewis G. (1817 - 1875)
Died, in the town of Loyal, Clark County, March 29th, 1875, after
an illness of only a few days, Lewis G. Stow, aged 58 years.
The deceased was born in Trumbull County, Ohio. He came to
Wisconsin in 1849, and has been a resident of Clark County for the
past ten years. By an upright, consistent Christian life, he won
the esteem of all with whose he came in contact, and his loss is
felt and mourned by a large circle of friends and neighbors. His
funeral was largely attended by those who feelingly paid that last
tribute of respect to one whom they had learned to respect and
love, and to whom the sad truths contained in these line were
called to mind with more than usual force:
Friend after friend departs,
Who hath not lost a friend
There is no union here of hearts,
That finds not here an end
Were this frail world our final rest,
Living or ding none were blest.
