McIntire, Edgbert Hill (1846 - 1878)
On Saturday morning last, Aug. 31st, 1878, Edgbert Hill McIntire
died at his residence in this place, of wounds received by an
explosion of dynamite, mentioned in this paper a month ago, at the
age of thirty-two years. Bert, as he was called by everyone, had
come to be an old and much esteemed citizen of this place, having
spent most of the past thirteen years her. He was quiet, honest and
industrious and his word was always as good as his bond. He was
married less than a year ago to a very estimable young lady of this
county who has the heartfelt sympathy of the community in her young
widowhood. His funeral took place last Sunday, and was very largely
attended, the church being crowded, mostly by personal friends who
will long hold him in kind remembrance.
