Lacey, John C. (1841 - 1878)
On Sunday morning last, at his home in this place (Neillsville,
Clark County), Dr. John C. Lacey departed this life after a
lingering illness of several months, at the age of 37 years.
Dr. Lacey has been a resident of Neillsville for the past seven
years, during which time his practice as a physician has made him
universally known throughout this county, and his uniform kindness
and nobleness of character have made him as widely loved and
respected. He was a conscientious and painstaking physician and a
gentleman in the highest sense of the term who ever bore the test
of intimacy to his own advantage.
During the long months in which he has been waiting the summons
which he knew must come, many friends whose bedsides he had cheered
were in turn found faithful watcher beside his, and the sorrows and
anxieties of his loving family have been to a great extent shared
by the whole community. After an impressive and beautiful funeral
ceremony conducted by the Knights Templar and participated in by
other societies of which the deceased was an honored member, the
body was taken by the former to its last rest at Janesville, in
this state.
Dr. Lacey leaves a wife and two children, half grown boys, who
receive all the sympathy that friendly hearts can bestow.
