Lyon, Phebe Ann (1819 - 1880)
Died, Mrs. Phebe Ann Lyon, wife of Mr. E. B. Lyon of Loyal, Clark
County, Wis., departed this life, Feb. 8th, 1880, aged sixty years,
six months and fourteen days.
Mrs. Lyon was a native of Plainfield, N.J. She moved to Dodge
County, Wis., in 1853, and to Clark County in 1866. She was the
mother of ten children, one of whom died in Clark County a few
years ago. She also left ten or more grandchildren. Her funeral was
attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The services
were held in the M.E. Church of Loyal and conducted by her own
pastor, the minister of the Presbyterian Church of Neillsville. Mr.
Lyon enjoyed in early life advantages of a high order, the fruits
of which were apparent to the close of life. Her pastor was the
celebrated Dr. McDowel, of Elizabeth, NJ. Her life was one of care,
of suffering and of patient endurance to the last. Those who knew
her during all these years, knew her only to love and honor her for
her purity of life and for her purity of life and for her wonderful
devotion to her family in deep affliction. The church has lost a
most worthy member, the community a kind friend and neighbor, and
an afflicted family a true wife and a most faithful mother. We
mourn her loss, but we mourn most of all, for those who abide in
this vale of tears.
