Wagner, Michelle S. (1961 - 1980)
Michelle S. Wagner, 18, of 307 North Hendren Av., Greenwood, Clark
County, died sometime Monday morning, Jan. 7, 1980, at her home.
She had committed suicide by hanging and was found by her parents
at about 1 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Robert Houston will officiate and
interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation and a private service will be held at
the Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood.
Michelle Wagner was born on April 29, 1961 at Marshfield and was a
1979 graduate of Greenwood High School. She also attended St.
Mary's School and was a student at Eau Claire Technical
Institute.
She was salutatorian of her high school class and active in music
and girls athletics. She was also a member of the National Honor
Society.
Surviving her are her parents, Victor and Dorothy (Denk) Wagner one
sister, Mrs. Mary Jo (James) Gregorich of Greenwood two brothers,
Thomas of Eau Claire and William of Menomonie and her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Anton J. Wagner of Cleveland, Wis.
Rinka Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wagner, Michelle Sue (29 April 1961 - 7 January 1980)
Michelle Sue Wagner, 18, was found in the basement of her parent’s home at 307
North Hendren Ave., Greenwood, shortly after 1:00 p.m. Monday. According to
Lulloff, the deceased hanged herself sometime that morning. He added that she
“had been suffering from an emotional disorder for several months.”
The body was found by family members. The deceased’s parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Wagner. Her father is well-known in the area, serving as UW-Extension
farm management agent for Clark County and board member for the Greenwood
Community Schools.
A special memorial mass was to be held this morning, Thursday, at 11:00 from St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. A private funeral service was held
Wednesday from the Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood with the Rev. Robert Houston
of St. Mary’s officiating and burial made in the parish cemetery.
Michelle was born on April 29, 1961, in Marshfield. She attended St. Mary’s

and athletic programs at the school. She also attended District I Technical
Institute, Eau Claire, prior to her death.
Surviving her, besides her parents, is one sister, Mrs. James Gregorich, 212 W.
Miller St., Greenwood, two brothers, William and Thomas, both attending college
and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Antone J. Wagner, Cleveland, Wi.
