Betz, John (1906 - 1980)


Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. from the Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood for John Betz.


Mr. Betz was 73 at the time of his death around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 1980 at the North Hendren Cheese Factory of an apparent heart attack.


Rev. Chester Osowski officiated at the service, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Neillsville. Pallbearers were George Gregorich, Leo Gregorich, Roy Gregorich, Randy Susa, Alvin Spaete and Gordon Spaete.


Born at Neillsville, Clark County March 5, 1906, Mr. Betz received his education at the Neillsville Schools.


He ran a welding shop in Neillsville for a number of years and also worked at Land O Lakes in Spencer. He was retired and for the last number of years had been living over the North Hendren Cheese Factory.


Surviving is one brother, Frank of Janesville, Wis. and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Spaete, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.


His parents, William and Della Betz, one brother and a sister preceded him in death.


Funeral services were conducted by the Rinka Funeral Home of Greenwood.
