Braun, Theodore (1896 - 1980)


Theodore Braun, 83, of Greenwood, Clark County, died at 8:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 1980 at Memorial Home, Neillsville, where he had resided the past three and one-half years.


He was born Dec. 2, 1896 to Frederick and Marie Braun. He attended Braun Settlement School.


In 1917 he purchased the Braun Settlement Cheese Factory. On Oct. 12, 1921, he was married to Emma Myrin at the West Side Parsonage by the Rev. Otto Vriesen.


In 1947 he purchased the home farm which he operated until 1958, when they moved to Greenwood.


He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Irvin (Shirley) Humke of Greenwood and Mrs. John (June) Wittwer of Marion, Iowa and one son, Allan of Minneapolis, Minn.


Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Emil (Marion) Noah of Loyal.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.


He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and served on the Consistory for a number of years. He also served on Greenwood City Council and the Clark County Board.


Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 7 at 3 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Alwyn York officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Serving as pallbearers were Herbert Noah, Alvin, Norman and Clarence Liebzeit, Elmer Noah and Harry Liebzeit.
Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
