Joyce, Vera (1894 - 1980)


Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville for Mrs. Vera R. Joyce, 86, Route 1, Greenwood, Clark County, who died at Memorial Hospital Aug. 15, 1980 of injuries suffered when she was struck by a car in Neillsville on Aug. 6.


The Rev. Gary L. Clark, pastor of the United Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in the Neillsville Cemetery.


The former Vera R. Holt was born Jan. 4, 1894, in the Town of Weston and received her education in the Forman School, Town of York.


She married William E. Joyce on Oct. 11, 1916, at Neillsville and they farmed in the town of Weston until his death on Nov. 14, 1970. She continued to live on the farm.


Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. E.A. (Alice) Petersen of Muskegon, Mich. three sons, William and Wilbur, both of Loyal and Walter of Dayton, Ohio 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.


Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.


Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, was in charge of arrangements.
