Stabnow, Harold (1888 - 1980)


Harold Stabnow, 92, Greenwood, Clark County, presently residing at Reedsburg Nursing Home, died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1980 at Reedsburg Hospital.


Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27 at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. Donald Adams officiated and interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.


He was born to William and Johanna (nee Kleinschmidt) Stabnow on Sept. 20, 1888 at Hecla, S.D. and graduated from Greenwood High School and Tolan Business College in La Crosse.


He was married to Esther Etta on Sept. 15, 1915.


In his early years he worked as a rural mail carrier at the Greenwood Post Office. Later he was employed at the Greenwood Bank as a teller. He built and operated the Pine's Service Station for a number of years and also served as city treasurer for 20 years.


He was a 50 years member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge.


He is survived by one son, Dale of Lake Delton.


Preceding him in death were his wife, Esther on Oct. 5, 1961 one son, Donald his parents and two brothers, Walter and Carl.


Art Christie, Don Decker, Knute Wallin, Jule Hoehne, David Friske and Bill Adams served as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
