Catlin, Haskell (1899 - 1980)
Haskell (Bub) Catlin, 81, of 210 South Main, Loyal, Clark County,
died Friday morning, Oct. 17, 1980, at 7:45 a.m. at his home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20 at Rinka
Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Sanford officiating. Burial was at
Loyal Cemetery.
Haskell Catlin was born on Aug. 6, 1899 in the Town of Sherman to
William and Martha (nee Welch) Catlin. He attended the Catlin Grade
School and also attended the Loyal High School. On Feb. 12, 1919,
he married Vivian Bassett at Marshfield. They celebrated their
Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1969. He was a Standard Oil agent for
43 years. In 1950, he sold the business which he had owned and
operated, to his son-in-law, and worked part-time. After he
retired, he became involved in carpentry, making doll cradles and
other items. He was a Loyal Fireman for 41 years. He was also a
member of the Loyal Masonic Lodge, in which he had achieved the
32nd degree.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian two sons, Clark, Danville,
Calif., and Franklin, Marysville, Mich. three daughters, Mrs.
Marvin (Eleanore) Engevold, Mrs. Melva Guzman, and Mrs. Gwendolyn
Bruckert, all of Loyal and one sister, Mrs. Ben (Mary) Gardow, Eau
Claire 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one
sister.
Pallbearers were Tom Guzman, Jack Guzman, Joe Bruckert, Dennis
Engevold, Richard Engevold, and James Engevold, all grandsons.
