Nickel, Raymond (1897 - 1980)
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at
Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, for Raymond Nickel, 83.
Mr. Nickel died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 1980 at Memorial Home,
Neillsville, following a several week's illness.
Officiating at the service was Rev. Horst Augustin. Pallbearers
were Steven, Brian, Larry and Mark Nickel, Oscar Krause and Lloyd
Grassman. The congregational singing included Beautiful Saviro and
Rock of Ages . Mrs. Larry (Pat) Nickel was the soloist and Mike
Bletsoe, organist. Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Nickel was born on April 10, 1897, in Wauwatosa to Mrs. and
Mrs. Louis (Marie Kegler) Nickel. He came to the Town of Fremont,
Clark County, in 1902, and attended area schools.
On June 18, 1931, he married Ruth Bartz. The couple continued
farming until retiring in 1972, when they moved to Granton.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth three children, Donald of Nekoosa,
William of chili and Mrs. Robert (Mary Ann) Krainz of Willard 13
grandchildren one great-grandchild and a sister, Elinore Riedel,
Wis. Rapids.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel two sisters and his
parents.
