Zimmer, John E. (1904 - 1981)

John E. Zimmer, 76, of Route 3, Greenwood, Clark County, died at about 4 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 1981, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. He was admitted there Monday.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Rinka Funeral Home. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. William A. Noble of United Methodist Church, Neillsville, officiated.

Serving as pallbearers will be Guy Langfeldt, Herbert, Langfeldt, Hugh Johnson, Leland Hebert, Harlan Lea Vesseur and Chuck Zeirieser. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, is handling the arrangements. Providing musical selections were Gary and Rochelle Schultz.

John E. Zimmer was born Feb. 13, 1904, in the Town of Reeseburg, Clark County, and attended school there.

He farmed in the Thorp area before moving to Greenwood in 1936 to farm. After retiring from farming he worked for the City of Greenwood for several years.

On Nov. 11, 1925, in thorp, he and Ruth Steele were married. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1975. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John G. of Greenwood; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Albert of Thorp; one brother, Robert of Owen; one sister, Mrs. Alene Ebert of Withee; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One son, Glen, one sister and one grandchild are deceased.
