Lakosky, Verland (1924 - 1981)
Verland Lakosky passed away at his home in Hollywood, Fla., on Feb.
2, 1981, of a coronary arteriosclerosis.
Verland was born at Loyal, Clark County on Feb. 10, 1924, the son
of Fred and Susan (Rystiken) Lakosky. He attended the parochial
school in Loyal and Loyal High School.
After one year at the University in Madison, he enlisted in the
Army Air Force and served in the European Theatre as a bomber pilot
until the end of the war. In 1945, he moved to Pittsburgh, Pa.,
where he met and married Miss Hilda Clinard in Aug. 1947. Shortly
thereafter they moved to Hollywood, Fla., where he became
associated with the Jerry Tardiff Realty Co., with whom he was
still associated at the time of his death.
Funeral Mass was said for him on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Church of
the Little Flower in Hollywood, with entombment at Lauderdale
Memorial gardens Mausoleum.
Verland is survived by his wife, Hilda one brother, Fredric of
Davie, Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Terry) Schoppaul of
Heidelberg, Germany; and Mrs. Louis (Mary) Huey of Pembroke Pines,
Fla.; and his step-mother, Mrs. Frances Lakosky of Pembroke Pines,
Fla.
His father, mother and two brothers preceded him in death.
