Sisson, George (1898 - 1981)


George (Wallace) Sisson, 83, of Route 1, Granton, Clark County, died Wednesday, May 27, 1981, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.


Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gary L. Clark, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30. Nyle and Larry Benedict were the singers, and Deon Spangler the organist.


Interment was in the Greenwood City Cemetery, with Charles Neff, Ernest Baughman, Ellis Williams, Clarence Hoesley, Roland Jacobi and Clayton Susa as pallbearers.


George Sisson was born on March 16, 1898, at Washburn, Iowa, to the late George and Ella (nee Osborn) Sisson. He received his education in Iowa and Missouri schools.


He was married to Erna Yunker on Nov. 3, 1923, at Neillsville. She died in 1971.


He worked at various jobs until 1923, when he moved to the Town of Eaton, Clark County, where he farmed. He retired from farming in 1974.


He and Helen Lawrence were married on Nov. 20, 1974, at Pierce, Ill. She survives. After their marriage, he moved to the Town of York, where he had lived until his death.


Other survivors include two sons, William of Greenwood and Glenn of Greenfield, Wis. one sister, Mrs. Roy (June) Fox of Paris, Ill. one brother, Ray of St. Louis, Mo. four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, two brothers and five sisters.


Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, handled arrangements.
