Englebretson, William J. (1921 - 2002)


William J. Englebretson, 80, Owen, died on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery with an honor guard service provided by the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post 238.


William James Englebretson was born on Nov. 5, 1921, in Clark County, to James and Eva (nee Eggett) Englebretson. He farmed in the Owen area since 1946. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Company C, 357th AAA Battalion.


Survivors include two sons, Gary (Bonnie) Englebretson, Greenwood, and Bruce (Shirley) Englebretson, Owen two daughters, Nancy (John) Siggelkow, West Virginia, and Gayle (Harold) Jones, Tennessee seven grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren one sister, Annabel Cheney, Arizona one brother, Bob Englebretson, Eau Claire two half-sisters, Faye Lang and Pat Van Aernam one half-brother, Jimmie Englebretson two stepsisters and one stepbrother. Preceding him in death were his wife, Gladys Bostwick Englebretson one son, Ronald William Englebretson one brother, Clayton Englebretson and three stepbrothers.


The Cremation Society of Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.
