Embke, Florence (1921 - 2002)


Florence B. Embke, 80, Neillsville, Clark County, died on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at her home. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Friday, Jan.11, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Timothy Biebert officiated. Music was provided by Becky Lange, organist. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Luchterhand, Randy Roehl, Rex Roehl, Rodney Roehl, Roger Roehl and Ross Roehl.


Florence Bertha Roehl was born on Feb..9, 1921, in the town of Pine Valley, to William and Hattie (nee Zickert) Roehl. She attended and graduated from Neillsville High School and married Eldon Wiesjahn on Nov. 7, 1943. After their marriage, they farmed in Christie. He later died in a hunting accident shortly before their son, William, was born. On Nov. 7, 1958, she married Harold Embke. They farmed in the town of York until 1983, when they sold their cows. He died on Sept. 28, 2001. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.


Survivors include one son, William (Naomi) Wiesjahn, Onalaska and three grandchildren, Nick, Green Bay, Nicolee, La Crosse, and Mindy, Milwaukee. Preceding her in death were her husbands, Eldon Wiesjahn and Harold Embke her parents and three brothers, Clifford, Wilbur and Harold.


The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
