Ortwig, Samuel (1927 - 2002)
GREENWOOD - Samuel Bernard Ortwig, age 74, of
Greenwood, died Feb. 6, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in
Neillsville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Missionary Baptist
Church and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the
church.
Cuddie Funeral Home is assisting the family with the
arrangements.
He was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Zion, Ill., to Charles and Ruth
(Clark) Ortwig. He married Myrtle I. Richardson on Dec. 21, 1949.
They lived in Zion and he worked at U.S. Steel and Wire in North
Chicago. He farmed from 1959 until 1979 in Greenwood. He then
worked as a truck driver for Grassland Dairy Products until
retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Ortwig of Greenwood four
daughters, Jackie (John) Nowak of Wind Lake, Kathleen Ortwig of
Appleton, Janette (Dale) Schultz of Granton and Becky (Jim) Turczyn
of Neillsville two sons, Sam "Bruce" (Karen) Ortwig of Canon Beach,
Ore., and Dan (Crystal) Ortwig of Winnetka, Ill. 15 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren one brother, Fred (Katie) Ortwig of
Exeland and two sisters, Miriam (Gordon) Beyreis of Exeland and
Bernice Seffinga of Zion, Ill.
