ELSIE JOHNSON
 

Elsie Elizabeth Johnson, 81, Loyal, Clark County, died Saturday, May 20, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 1995, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Joseph Kraly officiated. Burial was in the Loyal City Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Kenneth Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Mark Johnson, Randy Langreck, Tracy Euler and Eric Erickson.


Elsie Elizabeth Asp was born on March 24, 1914, in Davenport, Iowa, to Ivar and Nellie (nee Killman) Asp. She received her education in Greenwood area schools. She grew up on a farm north of Loyal in the Town of Beaver.


She married Russell C. Johnson on Sept. 23, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minn. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1985. They farmed in the Town of Beaver until 1957. She then worked in Marshfield doing domestic work. In 1986, she moved into Loyal to the hometown Apartments and managed them until her death. She enjoyed flowers, craftwork and reading. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and TLCW group.


Survivors include one son, Russell (Jan) Johnson, Marshfield; three daughters, Geraldine (Elmer) Nebola, Bruno, Minn.; Janet (Bernard) Langreck, Marshfield; and Bea (Sid) Euler, Superior; 19 grandchildren 38 great-grandchildren 15 great-great-grandchildren one sister, Mary Hefta, Minneapolis, Minn. and one brother, Richard Backen, Minneapolis, Minn.


She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.


Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
