Pernic, John, Sr. (1905 - 1982)


John Pernic, Sr., 76, of 406 E. Central, Greenwood, Clark County, died Thursday afternoon, April 15, at his home.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. James Lesczynski officiated and interment was in Holy Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Stanley Pekol, Jr., Edward Pekol, Jr., Jim, Frank, Daniel and Robert Pekol. Rinka Funeral Home handled arrangements.

John Pernic was born on Aug. 16, 1905, in Austria. He received his education in Yugoslavia.

He came to the U.S. at age 17 and lived in Chicago. He became a U.S. citizen in 1934.

After farming in the Globe area, he moved to Willard in 1935, and farmed in the Town of Seif. For the past six years he has been living in Greenwood.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a 50 years member of the KSKJ Lodge, which he joined in 1928.

Surviving him are his wife, Julia of Thorp four sons, Stanley of Round Lake, Ill., Robert of William Bay, Wis., John, Jr. of Cannon Falls, Minn. and Edward of South bend one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Loretta) Sprague of Franklin, Wis. two sisters, Mrs. Genoveffa Metti of Trieste, Italy, and Mrs. Aurelia Sosa, Ymag, Yugoslavia 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers.
