Joseph & Roxannah A. Butterfield

Christie, Weston Twp., Clark Co., Wisconsin

 

Joseph was born 27 Nov 1826 in Maine.  During the Civil War, he fought with in the regular US Militia, 1st Eng.  He married Roxanna, the daughter of John and Frances Jones, who was born 3 Dec 1840 in Maine.  They resided on a 40 acre farm in sec. 26 of Weston Twp., Clark County, WI.  In 1880, their property adjoined that of George Lloyd to the west, B. F. French to the south, Laura Tracy to the north and Frank Lavine to the east.  The 1880 census records their children: William R., 8 yrs.; Edwin, 5 yrs.; and Anna B., 4 yrs.  Roxanna passed away 12 Jun 1894 and Joseph died 3 years later, 8 Jul 1897.  They are both buried in the Chapel Hill Cemetery of Weston Township.

Ida May Butterfield (b. 1876) of Christie, Weston Twp., Clark Co., WI married Byron Amasa Colvin (b. 1869, NY).  He was the son of Jonas and Lucy Janette (Nutting) Colvin.  Jonas was born during 1836 in Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY and Lucy was born Jul 1841, in NY.  ----Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 10/29/1896
