"Woody" was born 13 Nov 1846 in Fairfield,
Jefferson Co., IA, the son of James M. and Harriet (Woodworth)
Chandler. I2 Nov 1871, he married Sarah Eliza Bowerman in
Neillsville, Clark Co., WI. She was born in Bloomfield,
Prince Edward Co., Ontario, Canada, near Pictou, at the head of the
Bay of Quinte. She was the daughter of John and Hannah (Hunniwill)
Bowerman.
C. W. was a Private in the Union Army, Co. G, 5th WI for 9 mo., enlisting 5 Sep 1864 and being honorably discharged 25 May 1865. He resided in Eaton Township when the 1885 and 1890 Special Veteran’s Census' were recorded. Woody died 3 Dec 1925. Sarah died 4 Mar 1921 and was buried in Cherry Valley Cemetery, Ontario, Canada.

George Chandler of Webster, Fla., a brother of V. W. and Woody Chandler, arrived Saturday morning from B. R. (Black River) Falls for a visit with Greenwood relatives. He served in the Spanish-American war with the Grigsby Rough Riders of Montana. Greenwood Gleaner, 7 Mar 1902.
Caleb Chandler is also featured in the book, "Civil War Soldiers in the heart of Clark Co., Wisconsin."
