Reuben & Lucy Wilson

Reuben was born 4 March 1822 in Jefferson Co., NY. In 1841, he married Lucy, born 22 Jun 1824 in Ellisburg NY. During the Civil War he served as a Fifer/Musician with Co K, 24th NY Inf. He enlisted 7 May 1861 at the age of 39 yrs., and, as Full Fife Major, received a disability discharge 30 Apr 1862 at Alexandria, VA. His son, George M. Wilson (b. May 1843, NY), enlisted 9 Sep 1862, serving as Bugler with Co. H, 3rd WI Cav., and then with the U.S. Veteran Reserve Corps, receiving his discharge 19 Dec 1864. In Dec 1867, George married Eliza Jane Russell (b. 1849, NY), and their children, Reuben's grandchildren, were: Marion (Mrs. Wm. Telfer; Oct 1868-Jul 1910) and Frank (b. May 1881). Reuben & Lucy’s daughter, Sarah Jane (b. Aug 1854 NY), married Henry James Jones in Jefferson Co., WI in 1871. The couple had 6 children. Both Reuben and George resided in Weston Twp., Clark Co., WI, when the 1880 Census was recorded. Reuben's wife Lucy passed away 20 Jun 1893. Reuben died 27 Apr 1901 in Duluth and his funeral was held at the Christie Church. Both burials were made in what is today called "Chapel Hill Cemetery", formerly known as "Weston East Cemetery". George’s family moved West and he died 29 Jul 1919, in Scotts Mills, Marion Co., OR. Eliza filed for her widow’s pension there. Sarah Jane passed away at the home of her daughter, 9 Nov 1933, in Sparta WI.
