Calvin John & Charlotte Ann (Raymond-Ransom) Mills

Calvin was born at Medinas, OH, June 6, 1843, the son of Peter and Grizelda (Batterson) Mills. At the age of 15 he came to Wisconsin with his grandparents, Jedediah and Mabel (Barnes) Mills. At the first call for troops during the Civil War, Calvin enlisted as a Pvt. with Co E, 6th Wis. Inf., and served until the close of the war. Calvin married Mrs. Charlotte (Raymond) Ransom in 1866, then locating in Clark County. She was born 30 Jul 1840, in Manlius, Onondaga Co. NY, the daughter of Luther and Julia Ann (Loomis) Raymond.
As a youth, Calvin was a member of the Baptist Church, but in 1889 united with the Methodist Church at Christie. Calvin died 29 Jan 1905 and is buried in the Neillsville, WI City Cemetery. After Charlotte passed away in Christie, WI, 24 Oct 1907, she was laid to rest at his side.
