Elijah Webber/Weber
Greenwood, Eaton, Clark Co., Wisconsin
Elijah Webber was born during 1805 in Maine. In 1860 he was recorded as a resident of Pine Valley Twp., Clark Co., WI and his property was valued at $150. In 1866 he was issued a Homestead Claim of 160 acres in Sec. 22 of what is today Eaton Twp. and his estate value at the time of the 1870 census was $800 and his post office was "Lumberman". His tract was finalized at the Land Office in Eau Claire, 15 May 1873, when Ulysses S. Grant was President of the United States. Moses and Mary Ann (Webber/Weber) Babb moved to Eaton Twp. the following year and were Elijah's closest neighbors. Moses was born 3 Feb 1824 in Gardiner, Kennebec Co, ME, but we do not know if there was any relationship between these property owners. The Hotel owned by George Huntzicker later stood on Elijah's property. By 1920, the land was owned by Albert William Zimmerman. There is an old Castner-Mack cemetery on the 26 Rd. and it possible Elijah could have been buried although he is not included in the known burials for it, but since there were no headstones, it would be hard to say one way or the other.
