Alfred Henry Kroll Jensen

Alfred Henry Kroll Jensen was born at Syrup Denmark, 11 Aug 1881, the son of Christian and Wita (Kroll) Jensen who was also born in Denmark. Alfred emigrated to the United States, sailing from Denmark by way of Liverpool, England, just before Christmas in 1901 arriving in New York.  On the ship manifest his occupation was listed at "smith."  After his arrival, Alfred settled at Oshkosh where he worked for three years.  In 1905 he moved to Neillsville to do blacksmithing for Len Huckstead and Wolff and Korman for eight years.  Lottie E. Larson (1883) of Greenwood became his bride 22 Aug 1907 at Winona, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Lars W. "Lewis" and Mary E. (Peterson) Larson.  At the time of the 1910 Federal Census they were living in Grant Twp., Clark Co., WI.  Alfred became a naturalized citizen before the Circuit Court at Minneapolis, Minn. while residing in Neillsville, Clark Co., Wisconsin, 7 Dec 1911.  In 1913 Alfred entered the insurance business and remained with that profession until his death.  The Jensens lived at Rice Lake for five years before moving to the 5th Ward of Minneapolis, MN to live for next seven years.

Alfred applied for a passport to travel to the British Isles, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Italy. It was issued in Washington, D. C., 16 Dec 1924 and he left for his trip from the port of New York, sailing on board the "Stockhholm", 10 Jan 1925.  At that time he was 43 years old and stood 5'8" tall. He had high forehead, a medium nose and mouth, a round chin, round face and a fair complexion. His eyes were blue and his hair was medium brown in color.  During this trip he visited his mother who died in Denmark.  Wita passed away at her home in Nykobing, Denmark at the age of seventy-four, 4 Dec 1928.

About 1927 the Jensens returned to Neillsville.  Alfred belonged to the Masons and members of that order served as pallbearers when he died 15 Mar 1934 at 4 p.m. of a heart attack.  He is buried in the City Cemetery of Greenwood, WI.  We believe Lottie later married Alvin H. Beidelman (15 Nov 1867) in Illinois and died 12 Mar 1975.
