Daniel was born 7 Oct 1847 in Cineco Co., Ohio, the son of Nelson and Eliza Metcalf. Daniel's parents were both natives of Pennsylvania.
He married Sarah Lucinda Turnbull in the town of Hewett, Clark Co., Wis., 15 Jun 1878. She was born 24 May 1862. Her parents, James and Sylvia, gave their consent for the marriage which was performed by Reverend William T. Hendren of Neillsville, Wis., a minister of the Presbyterian Church. Andrew and Sarah Metcalf served as witnesses.
The children of Daniel and Sarah were Clarence E. (25 Sep 1879); Freeman (12 Jun 1882); Levi J. (3 Feb 1884); Dora (14 Sep 1886); Asa (25 Mar 1889-7 Feb 1959); William C. (8 Sep 1891); Thruman D. (25 Mar or Nov 1895) and Daniel Jr. (b. 4 Jul 1900, Melrose, Jackson, WI; m. Vena Stockwell; d. 16 Apr 1993, Weaverville, Trinity, CA).
Daniel died of stomach cancer, 10 Jan 1925, in Hayward, Wis. and was buried there. Sarah died 24 Jun 1930 at Round Lake, Sawyer Co., Wis. at the age of 68 yrs.
