Warren & Jane (Gould) Pierce
Eaton Twp., Clark Co., Wisconsin
Jane Gould PIERCE was one of the original settlers in the town of Eaton between 1860 and 1870. We think Warren, deserted the family* and went back to Vermont with another woman, leaving his wife with small children to raise alone. Jane's two sons Frank O. and J. W. helped her with the farm. Her daughter, Sabrina, married John Tynan and lived in Loyal, WI. Frank Married Sarah TODHUNTER from the town of Sherman in 1877. They had Mable Ethyl, Elzora Maud, Jessie, and a fourth little baby girl with whom Sarah died in childbirth. She died in 1885 leaving him with three little girls, so he married Martha GREELY (Outagamie County) in 1887. She had been married previously and brought a little girl, Gladys Greely, to the family. Together Frank and Martha had Winnie and Roy and adopted a boy named Iner Bredison who changed his name to Pierce. Martha was a wonderful step-mother and she and Frank had a bunch more kids.
Elzora Maud
PIERCE was my grandmother, his daughter from his first
marriage. She married Samuel DEMOUTH from the town of
Christie. He was the son of Jacobb and Cordelia MARTINDALE
Demouth. They and several other Demouths
and Martindales are buried there in the cemetery on the hilltop in
Christie.

Family Notes
I wrote this biography about Warren and Jane Pierce
quite a while ago. I have since found information that makes
me believe that Warren never actually made it to Clark County.
I found this note in a publication from Portland in Dodge County
called "A History of Portland"
"Warren Pierce manufactured pumps which he supplied to the
surrounding country until 1868 when he removed to Greenwood ,
Wis."
The farm in Clark County (Eaton) was purchased and registered under
his wife's name, Jane Pierce. Warren is not present in the
1870 census, only his
wife and children.
There's an entry for a Warren Pierce in Lyndon Caledonia County, VT
in the 1880 census. It's the right age for my Warren. His
wife's name is Sarah A. His parents were from Caledonia County and
I think it's my Warren. I haven't been able to view the
original on my computer. It's one of those mysteries I hope
to solve someday. Dianne Stevens
