Fisse, Charlotte (1853 - 29 JAN 1907)
The residents of Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. were shocked last Tuesday when they heard of the news that Charlotte Fisse committed suicide at her home in this village somewhere between the hours of nine and twelve last Tuesday by hanging herself. Mrs. Fisse had been ill for several months and became despondent and evidently committed the deed in a semi-sane condition. Mr. Fisse as usual left the house about nine o'clock a.m. and returned for dinner shortly before twelve, when he found his wife with an express cord about the neck, hanging from a nail on the door casing in the bedroom. He cut the cord and found that the body was cold and lifeless. She was on her knees in posture, that indicated that she had deliberately ended her life. Justice Oberbillig was notified and a coroners jury was empanelled. After viewing the body and hearing the evidence, the jury gave their verdict, that she came to her death by her own hands. She had several times threatened to kill herself, once asking her husband to shoot her, and always talked of dying.
Mrs. Fisse was born in Germany 53 years ago, and had been married 13 years. She leaves a husband and two sisters to mourn. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Jankee officiating.
