Simons, Jacob (5 Apr 1819 - 30 Jul 1898)
The death of Jacob Simons occurred at his late home in this city
(Neillsville, Clark County), Saturday, July 30, 1898, at 4:25 a.m.,
aged 79 years, 3 months and 25 days. Direct cause was old age.
Deceased was born in Itterslorf, Reinpreisen, April 5, 1819. He
came to America with his parents I 1840, locating on a farm in the
town of Hartford, Washington County, Wis., in 1866. He resided in
this county until 1896, being a resident of the towns of Hartford,
Trenton and village of Myra, and then removed to this city, where
he has resided up to his death.
He was married to Miss Elizabeth Shild in Washington County in
1848, and to this union there was born eight children, six of whom
survive, namely: Mrs. John Sucke, of Abbotsford, Mrs. James Sucke
of Granville, Mrs. Ph. Wierchen of Lynn, Mrs. John Marx, John and
Helen of this city.
Funeral services occurred from the Catholic Church Tuesday, August
2nd, Rev. Father Jerroes officiating.
Mr. Simons was a very quiet citizen and like by all who knew him
was a kind husband and father, and the sympathy of the entire
community is with the bereaved family.
