Currier, John (13 Sep 1828 - 15 Aug 1898)
John Currier died at his home in this city
(Neillsville, Clark County) on Monday, Aug. 15, 1898. He had been
in usual health and his death was sudden. He was about on Sunday as
usual. In the night he was found by his sister, sitting up and
complaining of a pain in his breast. He was put in bed, hot
applications used and a doctor called. He died, however, with a few
minutes after the doctor arrived.
He was born in Skowhegan, Me., Sept. 13, 1828, and therefore lacked
but a few days of seventy years. He came to Clark County in 1852,
only a few years after its first settlement. He made his home for
many years with Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Robinson at Weston's Rapids. His
sister finally came to live with him and they have resided together
in this city for many years. He was never married. He leaves
surviving a brother, Willis Currier, at Skowhegan, Me., Seth at
Fresno, Cal., and his sister, Sophronia and Eliza and Mrs. Geo.
Trogner of this city..
Mr. Currier was a man of strict integrity. He was honest and
detested falsehood and deceit wherever he met it. No one ever
doubted his word. He was one who enjoyed his friends and was always
kind to them. He was kind and generous. He was quiet and unassuming
