Whalen, Abel (1855 - 13 Apr 1899)
Mr. Abel Whalen, an old time resident of Clark County and a
prosperous and enterprising farmer of the town of York, died at his
home last Thursday, April 13th, after a brief illness with
congestion of the lungs. Mr. Whalen was born in St. Lawrence
County, N.Y., in 1855, and early in life joined the tide of
immigration to the West, coming to Wisconsin and first locating in
Fond du Lac County. After a few years residence there he came with
his family to this county, settling in the town of York where he
has since resided. He has always been identified with the best
interests and welfare of the town of York, and his death is
regarded as a serious loss to that community. A wife, two sons and
three daughters survive him.
Funeral services were held at the family home Thursday and the
following day, after a brief service at the church in Christie, the
remains were brought to this city for interment.
