Tiffs, Estella E. (1881 - 23 Dec 1899)
Estella E. Tiffs died at her home in this
city (Neillsville, Clark County) last Friday night at one o'clock
of consumption, aged 18 years and 3 months.
Deceased was born in Madison and came to this city with her parents
at the age of nine years, where she resided until her death. Thus
closes a life so full of promise. Her many friends will long
remember her sweet and winning ways, her bright vivacious
disposition, which won for her the love and respect of all. Two
years ago she underwent an operation for abscess of the spine and
later on that dread disease consumption fastened itself upon her
and although fully conscious of the fact that her days were
numbered, she bore it all with admirable fortitude. Slowly but
surely she faded, the spark of life grew dimmer and at last went
out, leaving behind aching hearts and sorrowing relatives and
friends. She died as she had lived, at peace with all, and her
spirit passed out into the great beyond to its reward of
everlasting rest. Her memory shall ever be green in the hearts of
those who knew and loved her. Kind hearts go out in sympathy to the
bereaved ones bowed down with grief most poignant. Her reward of
rest and surcease of pain is well deserved and her final sleep is
that of the just.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Congregational
Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker preaching the funeral sermon from
the text selected by the deceased herself some time before her
death: "Create in me a clean hearth, O God, and renew a right
spirit within me."
