Bailey, Abner Woodman (23 Jan 1825 - 17 Jan 1900)


A. W. Bailey of Greenwood, Clark County, died at his home in that city, Wednesday evening, Jan. 17, 1900. The following obituary is from the Greenwood Gleaner:

"Abner Woodman Bailey was born Jan. 23, 1825, in Sutton, N. H. At 21 years he married Minerva Twiss. Of this union, one child was born, now Mrs. M. T. William, the mother dying six months later. In 1852 he was married to Julia Clough who, with their children, Mrs. R. F. Kountz and Berton L. Bailey, are left to mourn. Dorrance E. Bailey, a son older than Berton, was killed by lightning a few years ago. In 1865 deceased came to Black River Falls and in 1873 came to Greenwood, where he has since resided and until he lost the use of his lower limbs four years ago, was engaged in saw mill and sash and door work, and was always considered a first class workman.

The funeral occurred Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, Rev. T. G. Owen officiating.
