MARY STREMIKIS


Mary Alice Stremikis, 81, Willard, Clark County, died Friday, Oct. 28, 1994, at Marshfield Nursing Rehabilitation Center.


Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 1994, at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Pastor Carla Grabanski, a granddaughter, officiated. Burial was in the Willard Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Joe Spiegel, Randy Krause, Rusty DeBroux, Jon Grabanski, James Gilbertson, Larry Gilbertson and George Gilbertson.


Mary Alice Bergant was born on June, 1, 1913, in Aurora, Minn., to Frank and Marian (nee Groselj) Bergant.


She received her education in Willard area schools. She worked on the family farm until her marriage. She married August Stremikis on Jan. 20, 1930, in Gary, Ind. He survives. She then was a homemaker and worked on their farm. At the time of her death, they still owned the farm. She was the town clerk for the Town of Foster and served on the school board in the 1940 s. She was also a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge 198 of Willard.


Survivors include her husband two daughters, Jeanette (Perry) Berg, Osseo and Virginia (Vernon) Gilbertson, Chili seven grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren one brother, Anton Bergant, Cicero, Ill. two sisters, Amelia Bogolin, Elk Grove Village, Ill. and Angeline (George) Papacek, Fox Lake, Ill. two nieces and two nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.


Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
